Inspire Excellence! Yes on 103 When I ran for DPS board 2 years ago, I found that all my accounting and financial training had not prepared me to understand the financials in DPS. So, I asked questions and got some interesting answers... none of which made me feel comfortable with determining where money is being spent. I joined the DPSchool Accountability and Improvement Committee (SIAC) to learn more. After 2 years of trying to understand how money is being spent in DPS (while also reviewing 60 charters and School Improvement Plans) I was and remain very concerned that so little public trust exists on DPS fiscal management. I PROMISE (whether elected or not) to continue to get to the root of this. Two years ago, I was the lone voice on fiscal issues... today, EVERYONE is talking about it! If 103 does not pass, I will blame it partially on the lack of public trust in how DPS will spend it... That said, 103 is as good as we can hope for... and the Denver Post is being irresponsible to tell people to vote against it. It buys us time to make the big fix. I encourage folks to vote for it and then make the legislators do their part and put it in higher ed/ Ece-12... It is safe the first year, but if we vote in the wrong folks, that could change... Please vote your heart on 103 and then let's make sure that money is going where the voters intended
